Amazing Cars and Drives Car Buyer Guide: Mercedes-Benz AMG A35 4MATIC Review

With their latest hatchback, Mercedes-Benz have truly considered every factor, with a car that is fast, fun, luxurious and fully equipped with the latest technology. Indeed, the new Mercedes-AMG A35 4MATIC packs enough power and useful features to compete with other models within the same price range, including the BMX M135i and the Audi S3.

When it comes to the new hatchback from Mercedes, everything feels bigger: from the larger wheels and brake to chunkier splitters and bumpers at the face and rear of the vehicle, a more substantial design has created a robust, yet comfortable and proportional motoring experience.

The car’s impressive exterior is matched by a fantastic interior. Across the dashboard is home to several great features, which we will get to later. A visually appealing interior is achieved with a flat-bottomed steering wheel, equipped with metallic shift paddles and fully adjustable sport seating (which are significantly more comfortable than seen in the regular A-Class, for example. Notable, a dual-screen infotainment system is one of the most advanced we have seen – boasting its own huge range of safety and driving-assistance features.

A huge attraction to the A35 4MATIC is that all of those tech goodies inside of the car comes as a standard. Whilst sport seats are included in more substantial packages, standard seating alone is too comfortable for any real difference to be noticed. The only aspect of the car which is compromised in the new model is the boot space, which is significantly smaller than seen in rivals such as the M140i. Regardless, the space in the boot allows for a full grocery shop or luggage hall – so don’t let this issue rule the car out.

Whilst the new hatchback doesn’t boast a high-performance engine, the 2.0 litre petrol engine is turbo boosted to reach an impressive 206 horsepower. This, combined with the four-wheel-drive format of the car makes the car dynamic to fit all driving situations. Indeed, the vehicle can jump to 62 mph in under 5 seconds, even in the stormiest of conditions. Handling is strong, allowing for easy maneuvering around the tightest of corners.

The vehicle’s strong handling is further improved with an adjustable suspension system, amendable using knobs across the car’s intuitive touch systems. All these features do come with a considerable price tag. However, with performance matched with comfort, this is certainly a worthy investment.
