2019 Mercedes-Benz AMG GTS Coupe

Amazing Cars and Drives Car Buyer Guide: Mercedes-Benz AMG GTS Coupe Review

The latest in our series of car reviews features the Mercedes-Benz AMG GTS Coupe. We have been waiting for some time for the new Mercedes-Benz GTS coupe, and it appears that it was well worth the wait. A worthy successor to the former SLS supercar, this streamlined, speedier model comes as a strong competitor to rival vehicles, including the Porsche 911 and the Audi R8.

This streamlined version does not compromise on its dramatic appearance, with an extended bonnet, chunky grille and a huge Mercedes logo to the nose of the vehicle. With an exterior impression of a classic muscle car, the interior offers all the space of an estate car. This is achieved by a truly impressive design, with an immaculate finish covering all of the interior’s useful features, including high-quality leather upholstery, aluminium and carbon fibre finishing and custom switchgear. The interior features alone make this car the superior vehicle compared to the hugely popular 911 and R8.

The driving experience is immensely convenient, with the vehicle’s sports seat and steering wheel being electronically adjustable. Overlaying all of the vehicle’s sheer convenience is the car’s infotainment system, which comes packed with a huge range of its own safety and assisted driving features.

The only aspect in which we see space being slightly compromised is in the boot, which is significantly smaller than what we have seen in previous models.

The GTS coupe doesn’t compromise on performance, however. The twin-turbo V8 engine is revolutionary, with its 462 horsepower carrying the car to 60mph in only 3.8 seconds, with an impressive top speed of 192 mph. Impressively, adjustable flaps in the exhaust allow the driver to effectively change the sound of the car. This is a really neat feature which more exuberant drivers will enjoy playing with.

On the road, the car handles brilliantly, with a near-perfect balance of weight. The car feels agile and stable – a great combination of factors. Meanwhile, the suspension feels firm without sacrificing comfort.
